The outdoors and wilderness survival fields can often be spaces dominated by boys and men. The outdoors is for everyone! That’s why it is important to create spaces that make girls, women, and femme queer people feel especially invited.
Want to get out in nature with a bunch of wild women? Come join us once a month throughout the year! We will focus on a variety of skills including those listed below. Skill building will be progressive, going at the pace of the group. The program will be lead by two wild women looking to share an inclusive environment with young women and femme queer kids who want to connect with each other and strong role models.
Our final meeting of the season is an overnight experience where you will get to use what you’ve learned to spend an evening outdoors and celebrate our community of strong WILD WOMEN!
What you’ll learn:
- Confidence and independence in the outdoors
- Axes and Knife Skills, Carving and Blade Care
- Fire making
- Camping and backpacking basics, including shelters, knots, and orienteering
- Naturalist skills including plant and mushroom identification, bird identification and language, and tracking
- Edible and medicinal plant uses
(Specific skills depend on the pace and interests of the group.)
