Amanda (she/her) grew up in the southern foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in NE Alabama surrounded by nature. Much of her childhood and adolescence was spent in the woods, caves, creeks and lakes that graced the area. Her grandparents, and parents in their younger years, had farms filled with animals and crops. Through them, she learned her favorite skill- Edible and Medicinal Plant Identification and preparation. Though Amanda loves her family, she had an intense urge to travel, so even after receiving a full musical scholarship to a local college, she decided to join the Navy. She traveled the world, learning from other cultures as well as the awesome earth we have. There is nothing like being surrounded by stars when you are out in the open ocean. After the Navy, Amanda attended the University of Washington, earning a bachelors of science in forestry/environmental science and resource management and later working as an environmental scientist for a local consulting firm. These days, Amanda combines her love of nature and science as a professional photographer. She has been recognized as ‘Best of Edmonds 2022” for event photography and 3-time recipient of Canon USA’s photo of the week.
