Here in Western Washington, we live our life surrounded by trees. They are a fundamental part of the world around us, contributing to a healthy environment, clean air, and even human health (studies have show that trees release chemicals into the air which decrease stress and increase happiness)!!! The hardest thing with all the different types of trees in the Evergreen State, how to learn about them all?
If you have any interest in learning more about trees this is the class for you. Led by Theodore Hoss, one of the designers of the University of Washington’s Brockman Memorial Tree Tour, this workshop will serve as an in depth jump into forest ecology. The workshop will take place on the walking trails in Edmond’s Yost Park, with stops along the way to look at tree identification, uses, ecology, and threats that face todays forests.
The workshop is designed for ages teenage to adult (tweens who are focused and interested on the topic are also welcome), and all experiences are welcome to attend from people who have never before seen a tree in their life to tree scientists with decades of research behind them!
Date and Time: Saturday May 20 from 12-2pm
Location: Yost Park in Edmonds
Tuition: $30 per individual, $50 per family (adult and child)
